Last week I complete The Virtual Dementia Tour at the Churches of Christ in Kenmore.
To say it is confronting is an understatement of the highest order!
As the daughter of someone living with Alzheimer's dementia, I knew that what I experienced would be upsetting from the perspective of knowing she is living with some if not all of these challenges.
What I had not expected was my own reaction to what I experienced, and it affected me profoundly.
The entire process from when I arrived to prepare through the tour and the debrief that followed, the staff were professional, helpful, sympathetic and informative.
If you are living with someone with dementia; work with someone with dementia; or have customers living with dementia, I HIGHLY recommend that you participate in one of these tours, and if you have staff, that they also attend.
